Participants
Young people from all countries age 27 or younger who have produced films or videos either alone or in groups are eligible (the age of the film maker in the year of production is decisive). Applicants may enter one or more films/videos.
Formats
16mm and 35mm (projecting with separate sound is not possible). All video systems and artistic DVDs ( non-linear).
There are no limits to subject or duration.
All works must have been completed after 1 November 2003.
If the original language of the film is neither English or German, the preview copy should be subtitled in one of these two languages. Otherwise an English or German dialogue list should be enclosed.
All films and videos will be screened by an independent pre-selection jury which will then compose the festival's competition program, both for the German and the international competitions. All films and videos will be categorized into three age groups: up to 16, 17 to 22 and 23 to 27 years of age). The selection criteria do not emphasize technical perfection but originality, autonomy of the concept and how the concept has been translated into film.
Jury and Awards
During the festival an independent jury will award for the first time the German Young Film Makers Prize and the International Young Film Makers Prize.
All decisions by the pre-selection jury and the festival jury are final and may not be contested.
Deadline/Contact Address
A viewing or screening copy must be submitted with the entry form, including materials for the festival catalog (text and photos), to be received in Hannover no later than 01 August 2005.

Submissions and Return
All postage for all submissions of preview material to the Hannover Festival must be paid by the submitter. The postage for the return of films selected for showing at the festival will be paid by the up-and-coming festival.
As for not selected films: all preview material will remain in the u-a-c archive if no cash-note of 10 Euro ( $15 US for non-EU countries) has been attached to the application to defray return postage and handling expenses.
Material posted from abroad the European Union must be declared 'Artwork - for cultural use only - no commercial value'. Important: a proforma-invoice must be enclosed declaring a value of no more than 10 Euro or $10 US.
