With nightfall, decay seeps into the megalopolis revealing its vision, its pain – on the screen.
WOUNDS & VISIONS OF A MEGALOPOLIS is an accompanying program of the up-and-coming Int. Film Festival Hannover; an international network forms its foundation.
Curators from international mega-cities are presenting film programs exclusively compiled for the Hannover festival showing works by young film and video artists from these mega-cities; the young film makers are especially eager to describe the extraordinary, the mystical, the astonishing in their urban caves – they orientate themselves through contemporary images and sounds on site, where the broad beach of broken dreams and visions has been paved over in urban ashalt.
At previous festivals, this film series presented works from New York, Rio de Janeiro/São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Tokyo (1995), Manila, Melbourne, Mexico City, Seoul, Tehran (1997), Bangkok, Beijing, Bombay ,Chicago (1999), Bogotá, Moscow, Singapur, Dakar (2001), London, Los Angeles, Reykjavik, Shanghai (2003), Amsterdam, Barcelona, Kula Lumpur, Montréal (2005).
In 2007, WOUNDS & VISIONS OF A MEGALOPOLIS presented in addition to films from Cairo and Bombay for the first time fiction and sound experiments (VJ) by young artists from these two mega-cities.
