call for entries / deadline 01.September 2017 / no entry fee

We invite young film makers not older than 27 years from all countries to submit their films (produced either alone or in groups). The age of the film maker in the year of production is decisive. Applicants may enter one or more works.

formats

For preview: please send a MP4 file on DVD or a web-link to download the MP4 file (s.a. Vimeo, DropBox, WeTransfer...). There are no limits to subject or duration. All works must have been completed after 1. January 2016. If the original language of the film is neither English or German, the preview copy should be subtitled in one of these two languages. Otherwise an English or German dialogue list should be enclosed.

All films will be viewed by an independent pre-selection jury which will then compose the festival's competition program, both for the German and the international competitions. All films will be categorized into three age groups: up to 16, 17 to 22 and 23 to 27 years of age.
The selection criteria do not emphasize technical perfection but originality, autonomy of the concept and how the concept has been translated into film.

jury and awards
During the festival the jury will award three films the German Young Film Makers Prize and three films the International Young Film Makers Award. These prizes are an initiative of the up-and-coming festival and are awarded as a film comet (glass sculpture).

All decisions by the pre-selection jury and the festival jury are final and may not be contested. Film makers whose entries have been selected for competition will be informed by email only. Therefore, please make sure to provide a valid email address with your submission.
